Kirkland is Costco's house brand. Online, Costco sells this same product for $13.99 plus shipping and handling. I'm wondering if the one that Amazon is selling is a two pack, but it doesn't say that. -- COSTCO HAS IT CHEAPER
This review is from: Kirkland Signature Maximum Strength Vitamin D3 2000 I.U. 600 Softgels, Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I've been interested in health, nutrition and fitness since about the age of 35 when I was having the first of my weight-gain problems. I've read all kinds of literature beginning with Adelle Davis and no end of popular books and articles. I became somewhat addicted to reading about health and fitness and trying new supplements in the hope that they might improve my already-excellent condition. I tell you this so that you can better evaluate my review of the Kirkland Signature Vitamin D3 supplement.
I'm getting up there in age (now 73) and older people may start having problems associated with aging. I was reminded just the other day that my doctor wants me to come in and undergo a bone density test, which I guess they routinely give to everyone over 70. Well, my bones are fine, as far as I know, but it reminded that I'd been reading bits about vitamin D3, a supplement called "the sunshine vitamin," and it's benefits to bone strength in older adults. Vitamin D? That's the vitamin that is manufactured in the skin in response to sunlight exposure. Well, I live in sunny Southern California and, surely one doesn't need extra vitamin D under these circumstances. Well, if I think about it, I spend most of my time indoors and seldom am in the sunlight for any length of time. When outside I usually try to wear a hat and have covered skin. My wife worries about my skin, I might add. Could it be that I'm actually underexposed to sunlight, even in Southern California? In fact, that could be the case.
Well, I'm either going to have to stop reading or get some vitamin D3 supplements. Such was my state of mind as I wandered down the vitamin, mineral and supplement isles of my local warehouse store where I spotted the Kirkland Signature Vitamin D3 containers. Into the basket one went. Will it help me? Help me with what? I don't have any known problems. My problem is a reading problem and I've read that older people should have this important vitamin supplement. I asked my doctor about taking the vitamin and he approved. Ah, well, it's worth a try. Nutritional science is getting to be so much better these days and maybe I ought to heed the ample advice. But it's a matter of faith, and I won't know of any improvements for some time, if ever.
This supplement is very hard to evaluate and assign a star value. I'm giving it 5 stars in that all Kirkland Signature products which I've used are of the highest quality. You might also check with Consumer Reports in that they have much more scientific evaluations. In my case, if I have any problems or any detectable results after long-term use, I'll come back to this review and add a supplemental note. Also, anyone who has any experience regarding this supplement might attach a note in the comments.
